Natural deodorant, delivered across the UK
Natural toiletries have sat alongside our wholefoods since 1979, and this natural deodorant range brings together the brands our customers come back to: Weleda, Lavera, Ben & Anna, MooGoo and PitROK. Each one is made to neutralise odour rather than block sweat, using plant oils, essential oils and mineral salts in place of the aluminium chlorohydrate and synthetic fragrance found in many supermarket antiperspirants. Most are certified vegan and cruelty free, and many come in recyclable glass or cardboard packaging.
Aluminium free deodorant: what it means
Conventional antiperspirants use aluminium salts to plug your sweat glands. The aluminium free deodorants here from Weleda, Lavera, Ben & Anna and MooGoo leave aluminium salts out entirely and work by stopping the bacteria that cause odour. PitROK crystal deodorants take a traditional approach instead: they are made from potassium alum, a natural mineral salt that leaves a fine, invisible layer on the skin where odour causing bacteria struggle to grow. Potassium alum is itself a mineral form of aluminium, so if you want to avoid aluminium altogether, choose one of the plant based formulas. None of these are antiperspirants, so you will still sweat naturally, which is how your body keeps cool.
Natural deodorant for men and women
Most natural deodorants are unisex, so the real choice is the scent. Go for fresh citrus with Weleda Citrus or Ben & Anna Pink Grapefruit, woody and herbal notes with Weleda Herbal or Ben & Anna Urban Black, or something floral with Weleda Floral. Natural roll-on deodorants from Lavera and PitROK glide on and dry quickly. The pump sprays from Weleda and PitROK are non-aerosol and easy to share. Ben & Anna deodorant sticks come in a push-up cardboard tube with no plastic, and MooGoo Fresh Cream Deodorant is a gentle cream roll-on made with milk of magnesia. Deodorant for sensitive skin and fragrance free options
If your skin reacts easily, start with Lavera Basis Sensitiv, Lavera Natural & Mild or MooGoo Fresh Cream, which are all made with sensitive skin in mind. For a fragrance free deodorant, choose the PitROK Crystal Stick or the PitROK Crystal Spray Fragrance Free, which have no added scent at all. Some natural deodorants contain bicarbonate of soda, which a few people find irritating, so check the ingredients on each product page if that applies to you.
Switching to a natural deodorant
Give yourself two to three weeks. As your skin adjusts after antiperspirant you may notice more sweat at first, and reapplying once during the day helps while your body settles.
