With both cereals and chicory key Barleycup ingredients, their products are valuable sources of dietary fibre – including inulin – which is an important part of a balanced diet. Barleycup offers approximately 1g of fibre per single cup (250ml, 5g of powder) and contains only 10kcals per cup so offers a delicious low calorie drink. Dietary fibre comes from part of a plant that is resistant to human digestive enzymes, and is thus not digested or absorbed in the small intestine. Inulin, which can be found in chicory root and dandelion, possesses such properties. The recommended daily fibre intake (depending on the source) ranges from 25 to 40g*.
